Ahungalla Sri Lanka

Ahungalla is a small village on the southwestern coast of Sri Lanka, about 15 km south of Bentota and 40 km north of the provincial capital Galle. It is famous for its sandy beach, surrounded by a wide belt of palm trees and considered one of the most beautiful on the island. A worthwhile excursion is the turtle farm in the neighboring village of Kosgoda. The railway line to the south runs close to the coastline, and in some hotels the trains can be heard as they pass. Especially during the rainy season, the surf is often very strong and the sea is not suitable for swimming. The best time to visit the southwest coast is from November to April. Access is by overland transfer from Colombo (Bandaranaike International Airport).
