Wellington is a town in the Cape Winelands of the Western Cape, about a 45‑minute drive from Cape Town, South Africa, with a population of approximately 62,000. Wellington’s economy is based on agriculture, including wine, table grapes, deciduous fruit, and a well-established brandy industry. The town lies 75 km (47 mi) northeast of Cape Town and is accessible via the N1 motorway and the R44. Due to the growth of the Mbekweni township to the south, Wellington now forms a de facto continuous urban area with Paarl, located just 10 km (6 mi) to the south.
