Ras Abu Soma headland and Soma Bay together form “Soma Bay,” an area near the town of Safaga and about 50 km from Hurghada. The peninsula is home to a self-contained luxury holiday resort with top-level 5‑star standards and a marina. Additional high-standard hotels are located along the bay. Tourism in the area centers on diving, golf, surfing, and wellness. Boat excursions to the nearby coral reefs are very popular due to the high biodiversity. Alternatively, a 420-meter-long jetty allows visitors to literally “walk on water” to the outer edge of the reef, where they can enter the sea from the local dive center.
