Koh Lipe is a small island in the Adang–Rawi Archipelago in the Strait of Malacca, in Satun Province in southwest Thailand, close to the Malaysian border. Koh Lipe lies on the edge of Tarutao National Marine Park, directly south of the larger islands Ko Adang and Ko Rawi, and about 50 km from Ko Tarutao. During the high season, travelers can reach Koh Lipe by ferry or speedboat from several locations, including Ko Lanta, Pak Bara, Phi Phi, Trang, and Langkawi. In the low season, the only way to get to Koh Lipe is by speedboat from Pak Bara. Koh Lipe has three main beaches: Sunset Beach, Sunrise Beach, and Pattaya Beach. The calm, clear water makes Koh Lipe ideal for snorkeling, with around 25 percent of the world’s tropical fish species found in the area. Development on the island is growing rapidly to keep up with tourism, which has led to challenges in waste management, wildlife conservation, and energy supply. On arrival at Koh Lipe, visitors must pay a National Park admission fee and an environmental fee. Koh Lipe is a relatively undiscovered paradise and remains one of the most popular islands in Thailand.
