Just a few years ago, Koh Rong was mostly jungle-covered wilderness edged by stretches of powdery white sand, with only a handful of simple beach-hut resorts near the tiny village of Koh Tuch. Today, the main street running from the pier through Koh Tuch is packed with budget guesthouses, restaurants, and tiny bars cranking out competing music. It’s a place people tend to either love or hate, but for many young travelers arriving by the ferry-load, Koh Rong—especially Koh Tuch Beach—is an essential stop on any Southeast Asia party circuit.
