Administratively, Réunion is one of France's overseas departments. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS • La Cascade de Bras-Rouge. Located in the Bras-Rouge gorge, on the old path towards Mafate, this waterfall has created several pools that are perfect for picnics. The water, colored by iron oxide, is one of the main attractions. • La Chapelle. Prior to the construction of the road, the journey to Ilet-à-Cordes could only be made by a path that descended steeply into the Bras-Rouge River before climbing back up to the plateau. On the riverbed, huge slabs of basalt form a curious and impressive feature known as "La Chapelle". • Salazie. Known as The Bridal Veil, this is one of the island’s most breathtaking views. The eastern side of the caldera is covered in lush greenery, through which a multitude of waterfalls cut.
