About the destination: Santo Domingo is the capital city of the Dominican Republic. It is situated on the south central coast of the island and is recognized as the oldest European city in the Americas. The Colonial Zone serves as an ideal starting point for tourists exploring Santo Domingo. This area, nestled between Independence Park and the Ozama River, is home to the first city established in the New World by European settlers. The first street in the Americas, Calle de Las Damas, is located here and showcases numerous examples of 15th and 16th century architecture, including the Ozama Fortress, the oldest fortress in the Americas, and the Alcázar de Colón. The Museo de las Casas Reales, a restored 16th century palace of the Spanish Court, is of significant historical interest and offers a fascinating look into the past. Close to the walled city, visitors can find the Cathedral Basilica Santa Maria la Menor, regarded as the first cathedral in the New World. As tourists wander the narrow streets of the Colonial Zone, they will feel as though history is coming to life. The Zone concludes at the Malecón, also known as George Washington Avenue. El Malecón is a seaside boulevard filled with bistros, bars, and discos, and is the site of the Dominican Carnival held in February. Santo Domingo is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city brimming with historical colonial sites and exuding Latin charm from every street and plaza.

About the destination: Jarabacoa is a town and the second-largest municipality in La Vega Province, Dominican Republic. Although many historical details are still unknown, it is very likely that the island’s native people inhabited the Jarabacoa valley. It is believed that the city’s name comes from the words “Jaraba” and “Coa,” meaning “Land of Waters” in the native language. Some say that Spanish conquistadors reached Jarabacoa during their search for gold but later abandoned the expedition, either due to resistance from the natives or because no large deposits were found, even though gold can still be panned from some of the many rivers today. Jarabacoa most likely belonged to the Chiefdom of Maguana, making it part of the kingdom of Cibao. While archaeological work is still needed, it is assumed that native peoples lived in the area long before the arrival of Christopher Columbus. The area did not begin to be repopulated until 1805, during the Haitian invasion of the Cibao, when survivors of the massacres in Santiago de los Caballeros and La Vega fled to the mountains of the Central Range and settled in the Jarabacoa valley. In 1854, a military post was established and the town was formally founded. On September 27, 1858, the town was incorporated as a municipality.

About the destination: Santiago de los Caballeros, or simply Santiago, is the second-largest city in the Dominican Republic and the capital of Santiago Province. One of the main attractions downtown—and a place where boredom doesn’t exist—is Calle del Sol. Known as the city’s main shopping district, this street is lined with shops, hotels, restaurants, bars, and a variety of vendors.

About the destination: Samana, officially Santa Bárbara de Samaná, is a town and municipality in the northeastern Dominican Republic and the capital of Samaná Province. Samana is an ecotourism destination surrounded by breathtaking nature, featuring its own paradise island called Cayo Levantado just a few minutes away by boat, lush tropical mountain hills, the virgin forest of El Valle, many beautiful waterfalls, caves with petroglyphs and pictograms, the famous Playa Rincón beach, and countless other secluded beaches with crystal-clear waters.

About the destination: Bayahíbe is a town in the Dominican Republic, located about 10 miles (16 km) east of La Romana on the shore of the Caribbean Sea. The village is small with restaurants, many agencies excursions, diving centers, two or three bars, a small supermarket, a billiard room, a colmado (grocery store) where together, in the late afternoon people (villagers and foreigners) around a President really fresh.

About the destination: Punta Cana is the name of a region in the easternmost tip of the Dominican Republic. Covering about 420,000 m2, the region is home to a coastline of sandy white beaches and to a "town" of the same name. Located in the province of La Altagracia and population estimated at 100,000, the region borders the Atlantic Ocean to the east. To the north, it borders Bávaro and El Cortecito beaches. It also limits with Cabeza de Toro, Cabo Engaño and further west with Juanillo. Despite the area being fairly deserted, the proximity of Punta Cana to other major resort areas such as Bávaro and Uvero Alto make the town one of the top Caribbean destinations.
