The extensive journey offers stunning sandy beaches and a serene sea, beckoning you to swim, snorkel, and explore numerous worthwhile diving spots. "Trinco", the capital of the Eastern Province, is a must-see in the region, featuring the vibrant Hindu Koneswaram Temple and the Kanniyai hot springs. Approximately 12 km north of Trincomalee lies the small Pigeon Island, home to an offshore coral reef just off the Nilaveli beach, accessible only by boat. The optimal time to visit the east coast is from May to October. Arrival is by land transfer from Colombo (Bandaranaike airport), with a recommended stopover in the Dambulla / Sigiriya region en route.
