About the destination: Chiang Mai is the central hub of Northern Thailand and serves as the Capital City of the province bearing the same name. The city is home to over 170,000 residents, making it the fifth-largest city in Thailand. Situated on a plain 316 meters above sea level, Chiang Mai is surrounded by mountains and verdant countryside, offering a greener and quieter environment than the capital. The city has a cosmopolitan vibe and a substantial expat community, which have enticed many people from Bangkok to permanently settle in this "Rose of the North". The historical heart of Chiang Mai is the walled city. Portions of the wall still stand at the gates and corners, but only the moat remains of the rest. Within the remaining city walls, there are over 30 temples that date back to the establishment of the principality. These temples exhibit a mix of Burmese, Sri Lankan, and Lanna Thai architectural styles, adorned with exquisite wood carvings, Naga staircases, lion-like and angelic protectors, gilded umbrellas, and pagodas embellished with gold filigree. The most renowned of these is Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, which offers a panoramic view of the city from a mountainside 13 km away. In recent times, Chiang Mai has grown in all directions, but especially towards the east, in the direction of the Ping River, or Mae Nam Ping. This is where you'll find Chang Klan Rd, the famous Night Bazaar, and the majority of Chiang Mai's hotels and guest houses. Loi Kroh Rd is the epicenter of the city's nightlife.

3. Pai
Stay
About the destination: Pai is a charming small town where visitors can enjoy interesting activities both day and night. During the day, you can visit Phra Thad Mae Yen Temple for panoramic views, soak in the mineral waters of Tha Pai Hot Spring, and see the nearby historic bridge. Photo lovers can stop at Coffee in Love, enjoy delicious pork shank in the Chinese Yunnan village, ride an elephant, or simply relax on a bamboo raft along the Pai River. In the evening, the highlight is Pai Walking Street, a lively night market that no visitor should miss. The street is crowded with travelers browsing souvenirs, including original artworks created by talented artists who have made this small town their home. Hanging lanterns light up the cool night air and give the street a colorful, festive atmosphere. Friendly vendors sell a variety of goods on both sides of the road, such as clothing, accessories, and creatively designed postcards. Many of the shopfronts are so attractively decorated that people often stop to take photos as a keepsake. Pai Walking Street is also a showcase of local art and culture. You may hear traditional music, see teenagers performing the Fon Nok sword dance of the Shan ethnic group, and enjoy shows by nearby hill-tribe communities dancing to their own songs. As in the rest of Thailand, food is a major highlight. Pai offers many tasty local specialties such as Ka Nom Jin Nang Yong and hot Kao Pook Nga fresh from the oven, with flavors that are distinct to this area. You can also sip refreshing herbal drinks served in bamboo flasks as you stroll. Though small, Pai is full of character, and an evening walk along its walking street offers fun, relaxation, and a wealth of food, crafts, and cultural experiences for every visitor.

5. Hanoi
Stay
About the destination: Hanoi, Vietnam's capital and its second largest city, is one of the most enchanting cities in Asia with a unique personality. Years of foreign occupation have left an imprint on this city, as evidenced by the intriguing museums, historical buildings, pagodas, mausoleum, and its own French quarter, all of which contribute to the city's distinctive ambiance. The best way to familiarize yourself with Hanoi is by foot. The historical center isn't very large, and many attractions are located there or in the immediate vicinity. Walking is the best way to interact with the friendly locals. Hanoi is known as a city of lakes due to the numerous lakes and trees scattered throughout the city. The largest lake is the West Lake, Ho Tay, and the most famous in the city center is the Lake of the Restored Sword, Ho Hoan Kiem. What's beautiful about Hanoi is the interesting architectural contrasts, ranging from the traditional old buildings of the Old Quarter to the grand European-style buildings of the French Quarter to the Communist monuments at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and surrounding areas. Not to mention the beautiful traditional architecture of its temples, such as the Quan Su Pagoda. Hanoi is a city of both peace and hustle, bustling with street life and exotic markets, yet serene around the tranquil pagodas and temples. The City of the Soaring Dragon is a must-visit destination in Vietnam.

6. Quy Nhon
Stay
About the destination: Quy Nhon, located on Vietnam’s south-central coast, is an under-visited city bordered by beautiful beaches and dramatic countryside. Capital of Binh Dinh Province, it was recognized as a city in 1898 but its history stretches back to the 11th century, during the Champa Kingdom. In the 15th century it served as a ruling center for Emperor Le Thanh Ton, and later became both a fierce battleground and a key US military and naval base during the Vietnam War. Today, Quy Nhon is a growing port city of over 260,000 residents, investing in new infrastructure to welcome more visitors. Fishing remains its main industry, so the city is an excellent destination for fresh, high-quality seafood. Among its attractions, the Binh Dinh Museum stands out, with three main galleries: one dedicated to the local Communist Party’s struggle during the Vietnam War, a central gallery focusing on the French colonial period, and another showcasing Cham sculptures. The Thap Doi Cham Towers are another highlight: unlike most Cham towers, which come in odd-numbered groups and sit on hilltops, this complex consists of just two towers located right in town. Their detailed reliefs are still in impressive condition. Long Khanh Pagoda, the city’s main pagoda built in the 18th century, is notable for its 17-meter-high Buddha statue. Nearby, visitors can explore the scenic Queen’s Beach—named for the wife of Vietnam’s last emperor—and the Quy Hoa Leper Colony, a tranquil area with a hospital, gardens, and the homes of former patients. Swimming is one of the best activities in Quy Nhon thanks to its beautiful coastline. Queen’s Beach and Quy Hoa Beach are popular with both locals and expatriates. For a more upscale stay, visitors can choose between HAGL Resort Quy Nhon—an exclusive property with a huge pool, spa, fitness center, and tennis courts—and Life Resort, considered the most luxurious resort in Binh Dinh. Set on a private beach, Life Resort offers not only swimming but also boating, snorkeling, spa treatments, and t’ai chi, making Quy Nhon an appealing mix of history, culture, and seaside relaxation.
