1. Hat Yai
Stay
About the destination: Hat Yai is the largest town in Songkhla Province and the fourth largest in Thailand. Many travelers pass through on their way to and from Malaysia, giving it a cosmopolitan feel that is unique to the area. It is well known as a travel hub, a medical center, and a shopping haven for Thais. Hat Yai’s appeal is different from Koh Samui’s or Phuket’s, and it is an extremely popular tourist spot for Malaysians and Singaporeans, which means prices are relatively high and you won’t see many Western visitors here except in transit. Getting around town is fairly easy and inexpensive by motorcycle taxi and regular taxis. Hat Yai has a strong reputation as a shopping destination for both Thais and foreigners. There are numerous department stores, shopping malls, and markets throughout the city. Kim Yong Market (also spelled Gim Yong) is a famous market located in the center of Hat Yai, Songkhla.

2. Koh Lipe
Stay
About the destination: Koh Lipe is a small island in the Adang–Rawi Archipelago in the Strait of Malacca, in Satun Province in southwest Thailand, close to the Malaysian border. Koh Lipe lies on the edge of Tarutao National Marine Park, directly south of the larger islands Ko Adang and Ko Rawi, and about 50 km from Ko Tarutao. During the high season, travelers can reach Koh Lipe by ferry or speedboat from several locations, including Ko Lanta, Pak Bara, Phi Phi, Trang, and Langkawi. In the low season, the only way to get to Koh Lipe is by speedboat from Pak Bara. Koh Lipe has three main beaches: Sunset Beach, Sunrise Beach, and Pattaya Beach. The calm, clear water makes Koh Lipe ideal for snorkeling, with around 25 percent of the world’s tropical fish species found in the area. Development on the island is growing rapidly to keep up with tourism, which has led to challenges in waste management, wildlife conservation, and energy supply. On arrival at Koh Lipe, visitors must pay a National Park admission fee and an environmental fee. Koh Lipe is a relatively undiscovered paradise and remains one of the most popular islands in Thailand.

3. Ko Muk
Stay
About the destination: Welcome to Ko Muk, Thailand’s Hidden Gem Nestled in Thailand’s Trang Province, the enchanting island of Ko Muk offers a peaceful escape from the busier tourist hotspots. Often overshadowed by its more famous neighbors, Ko Muk—also known as Ko Mook—remains a pristine paradise for travelers seeking an authentic Thai island experience. Its name means “Pearl Island,” and it truly lives up to that title, shining like a hidden jewel in the Andaman Sea. The Jewel of Ko Muk: Emerald Cave Ko Muk’s star attraction is the stunning Emerald Cave (Morakot Cave), which can only be reached by boat. This hidden lagoon is surrounded by towering limestone cliffs and accessed by swimming through a dark, mysterious tunnel about 80 meters long. As you emerge into the light, you’ll find a secret beach with soft white sand and lush greenery all around—a setting that feels cinematic and magical. The water glows a brilliant emerald green thanks to sunlight filtering through the cave entrance, giving the whole place an otherworldly atmosphere. For safety and the best experience, visit at low tide with an experienced guide. Tranquil Beaches and Authentic Thai Culture Beyond Emerald Cave, Ko Muk’s beaches offer quiet retreats for those who love sun, sea, and nature. Farang Beach is the most popular, with soft white sand and calm, clear water ideal for swimming and sunbathing. Ao Kham and Ao Sabai are more secluded, perfect for relaxing in the shade of casuarina trees and soaking up the peaceful vibe. Because Ko Muk is still relatively undeveloped, it gives visitors a rare chance to connect with genuine Thai island life. The small local villages feel far removed from Thailand’s big tourist centers, and you’ll find friendly residents and traditional Thai food that is both delicious and budget‑friendly. Activities and Accommodations Active travelers will find plenty to do on Ko Muk. Kayaking, snorkeling, and diving let you explore the colorful marine life and coral reefs around the island. Adventure seekers can also enjoy rock climbing and trekking. After a full day, you can relax at a range of accommodations, from simple beachfront bungalows to more upscale resorts. Wherever you stay, you’ll experience the warm hospitality that Thailand is famous for. Ko Muk offers a rare mix of tranquility and adventure, far from the crowds, in a setting that still feels like a well‑kept secret. Whether you’re traveling solo, as a couple, or with family, this charming island is sure to leave you with unforgettable memories of this beautiful corner of Thailand.
